Cornering Training Level 1

The technical foundation for every corner: vision, throttle control, seating position – on a fully closed circuit.

What is Cornering Training Level 1?

A structured technique module on a fully closed circuit – no traffic, no time pressure. In groups of no more than five participants we build, step by step, the elements that make a motorcycle predictable in a corner. The result is clean, repeatable technique.

Understanding is at the center. You do not just learn what works in a corner, but why it works – riding physics you can call on at any time. The goal of Level 1: confidence and control at lean angle, calm lines and a riding style with noticeable reserves – the foundation for everything that comes after.

Cornering precision does not begin with courage – it begins where technique, perception and calm come together cleanly.

Who is this training for?

Level 1 is the entry into our cornering training system – open to everyone, no prior experience needed. It is aimed at riders who want to develop their cornering technique systematically and with technical precision.

Even riders with years behind them are not automatically past Level 1: road kilometers train habit, not necessarily vision, throttle control and seating position – the three building blocks we sharpen here. That is exactly what we see regularly in Level 2: experienced riders still missing this foundation, who then spend more time catching up than on the actual Level 2 material.

Beginners

You want to build confidence at lean angle and in tire grip: systematically, safely and with professional guidance.

Experienced road riders

You have been riding actively for years, but your technique was never trained on purpose: a fixed stare, restless throttle, a tense posture in the corner. Here you replace habit with technique – no matter how long you have been riding.

Sport riders

You are looking for stability, a clear line and a calm chassis – built on technique you can retrace and repeat.

Our experience after more than 1,500 riders trained: even long-time riders benefit from Level 1. The fundamentals decide everything that comes after.

The three technical focus areas

The content follows the structured Fit2Ride model. We work on three pillars of riding technique – each one explained, practiced and then brought together:

  1. Vision – the primary guidance point

Where you look determines line, rhythm and stability. You train to fix on the points that matter: corner entry, apex, corner exit. Precise vision steers the motorcycle almost by itself into a calm, controlled lean angle – and takes the rush out of the corner before it starts. Why vision is the first thing to narrow under stress is covered in our article on vision.

  2. Throttle control – the control center

The throttle controls far more than speed: it stabilizes the motorcycle at lean angle. You develop clean, measured throttle control – for a calm line, confidence in grip and traction, and controlled transitions without driveline jolts. Maintenance throttle is not a tip, it is applied physics.

  3. Seating and support position – the stable foundation

A neutral base position creates control without effort. We analyze your contact points, the pressure distribution on the footpegs and the basic movement of leaning the bike in. Clean body work allows light steering inputs and a stable lean angle without upsetting the chassis.

What you take away from the training

We do not train tricks, we train repeatable technique:

  • A technically clean foundation for every corner – whatever the radius
  • A neutral seating and support position without tension
  • Clear visual strategies you can apply on the road straight away
  • A solid understanding of how grip builds and how the bike behaves
  • Noticeably more stability, confidence and mental calm

Next steps

Once the foundation holds, dynamics follow: Level 2 builds directly on Level 1 – with hanging off, trail braking and traction at deep lean angles. The same methodical path, the next step.

Frequently asked questions

What level is Level 1 meant for?

Level 1 is our entry level – bookable without prior experience. It suits beginners and returning riders who want a clean foundation, as well as experienced riders who want to check their technique systematically.

Do I need my own motorcycle, and what equipment do I need?

For the cornering training we provide suitable training motorcycles – you do not need to arrive on your own bike. Full protective gear is mandatory: motorcycle clothing, back protector, gloves, high boots and a full-face or flip-up helmet.

Where does the cornering training take place?

On our closed circuit in 87766 Memmingerberg in the Allgäu (Bavaria), right at the A7/A96 motorway junction – about an hour from Munich, around an hour and a half from Stuttgart.

Why only five participants per group?

Because individual feedback makes the difference. In small groups the coach sees every one of your corners – and you get concrete, workable corrections instead of general theory.

I have been riding for many years – is Level 1 not too easy for me?

Not necessarily. Level 1 is not a beginner course in the classic sense, but a technique check of the three decisive fundamentals. Many experienced riders discover here for the first time why certain corners always feel uncertain – and that is hard to catch up on in Level 2 without slowing down the whole group's training flow.

Will I also learn braking at lean angle here?

Controlled braking deep into the corner (trail braking) is the focus of Level 2. Level 1 lays the foundation for it: vision, throttle control and a stable position – without this base, clean braking at lean angle cannot be learned.

What does this training give me on the road?

More lean-angle reserve and calmer, more controlled corners. The visual strategy and the throttle control you build here carry over to every country road – repeatable technique you can rely on.
